Geelong’s first residential high-rise building will be occupied by Christmas – and residents of The Mercer will have access to incredibly fast broadband from the day they move in.
Situated at Western Beach, The Mercer boasts 123 apartments across 15 levels, with 100 of those offering water views.
Among the many features of the apartments are cantilevered balconies, floor-to-ceiling windows, timber floorboards and wool carpets, stone surfaces, Miele appliances, spacious walk-in robes and ensuites, frameless showers and timber cabinets.
Developer Matthew Sun, CEO of BCC Group, also understood fast, reliable internet would be important to the building’s residents and for attracting buyers. To complement the overarching approach to quality at The Mercer, BCC Group required a quality internet provider – and Lightning Broadband was selected.
Using Lightning’s Broadband’s fibre-to-the-building (FTTB) technology, the apartments have been provisioned for access to internet speeds of up to 500 Mbps – both upload and download, and with no data caps. A business grade 1,000 Mbps/1,000 Mbps (1Gps) plan is also available.
All residents need to do is to connect a compatible router, select a Lightning Broadband FTTB plan and they’ll then be cruising the web at speeds that will be the envy of others.
“The Mercer represents our first major project in Geelong and we’re very proud to be associated with such a high-profile, high-quality residential development,” said Lightning Broadband CEO Jeremy Rich. “The rooftop of The Mercer also hosts one of our towers, so we’ll be beaming superfast 5G fixed wireless broadband services to residents and businesses in the surrounding area.”
As well as offering a superior internet experience for residents and tenants, one of the very attractive aspects for developers is Lightning Broadband installs and maintains the necessary infrastructure at zero cost to the developer – and this also applies in the case of building retrofits. This can provide significant savings on project costs compared to provisioning via the NBN, while offering much faster broadband options for those living and working in the building.
Lightning Broadband recently secured a substantial funding facility to support its rollout of high speed fibre internet to residential and greenfield commercial developments across Australia.
